Cluster University Jammu 1st Semester B.Sc Physics Electricity and Magnetism Previous Year Question Paper
The Previous Year Question Paper of “Electricity and Magnetism” in 1st semester B.Sc Physics at Cluster University Jammu is the most numerical-heavy, concept-building and GATE/JAM-deciding paper that every serious physics student solves 25–35 times. This 3-hour, 70-mark paper (plus 30 marks practical) is 75% numerical + 25% theory. Section A has 10 compulsory short questions on Coulomb’s law, Gauss law, capacitors, dielectrics, Biot-Savart, Ampere’s law, Faraday’s law, Lenz’s law, and LR/CR/LCR circuits. Section B contains 5/7 medium numericals on electric field & potential due to dipole/ring/sheet, capacitance combinations, magnetic field due to solenoid/toroid, growth & decay in LR/CR circuits. Section C carries three heavy 15–20 mark numericals — one compulsory on application of Gauss law + capacitance with dielectrics, one on magnetic vector potential + force on current-carrying conductor, and one on LCR series/parallel resonance + Q-factor. Every year 65–70 % pattern repeats with changed numerical values. Students who solve the last 12–15 years’ papers under timed conditions never score below 94 and many hit 98–100. Toppers keep a personal “500 Solved Numericals + Formula Sheet + 100 Derivations Book”. This question paper is therefore not just an exam — it is the direct ticket to IIT-JAM, JEST, TIFR, BARC, ISRO, DRDO, GATE Physics, JKPSC Lecturer, and every campus placement in core companies. Practising it repeatedly turns an average student into a master of E&M from the very first semester. (332 words)
