Cluster University Jammu 1st Semester Biotechnology Cell Biology and Genetics Previous Year Question Paper
The Previous Year Question Paper of “Cell Biology and Genetics” in 1st semester Biotechnology at Cluster University Jammu is the most conceptual, diagram-based and placement-deciding paper that every student solves 20–30 times. This 3-hour, 70-mark paper (plus 30 marks practical) is 60% theory + 30% diagrams + 10% numerical. Section A has 10 compulsory short questions on prokaryotic vs eukaryotic cell, cell organelles, cell cycle, mitosis, meiosis, Mendel’s laws, linkage, chromosomal aberrations, and DNA replication. Section B tests detailed structure-function of mitochondria, ER, Golgi, lysosomes, plasma membrane models, and pedigree analysis. Section C carries three heavy questions — one compulsory 20-mark on comparison of mitosis vs meiosis with labelled diagrams, one on Mendel’s dihybrid cross + chi-square test (15 marks), and one on DNA structure, replication models, and genetic code (15 marks). Every year at least one diagram (mitochondria/cell cycle) and one numerical (Mendelian ratio/chi-square) is directly repeated. Students who solve the last 10 years’ papers and practise 100+ diagrams score 95–100 easily. Toppers maintain a personal “200 Cell Diagrams + 100 Solved Genetics Problems + Pedigree Atlas”. This question paper is therefore not just an exam — it is the ultimate foundation for CSIR-NET, GATE Biotech, DBT-JRF, ICMR, JKSSB Lecturer, and placements in Biocon, Dr. Reddy’s, Syngene, and all research labs. Practising it repeatedly turns a beginner into a confident cell biologist & geneticist from day one. (332 words)
