Cluster University Jammu 1st Semester Biotechnology Molecules of Life Previous Year Question Paper

The Previous Year Question Paper of “Molecules of Life” in 1st semester Biotechnology at Cluster University Jammu is the most fundamental, diagram-rich and highest-scoring paper that every student solves 20–30 times. This 3-hour, 70-mark paper (plus 30 marks practical) is 60% structure-function + 30% diagrams + 10% numerical. Section A has 10 compulsory short questions on carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, enzymes, vitamins, and bioenergetics. Section B tests classification, properties, and reactions of monosaccharides, amino acids, fatty acids, nucleotides, and enzyme kinetics (Michaelis-Menten). Section C carries three heavy questions — one compulsory 20-mark on structure of protein (primary to quaternary) with diagrams, one on DNA vs RNA + Watson-Crick model (15 marks), and one on enzyme inhibition types + Lineweaver-Burk plot (15 marks). Every year at least one structure (glucose, amino acid, DNA double helix) and one numerical (Km, Vmax) is directly repeated. Students who solve the last 10 years’ papers and practise 150+ labelled diagrams score 96–100 easily. Toppers maintain a personal “200 Biomolecule Structures + Enzyme Kinetics Workbook + Reaction Mechanisms Atlas”. This question paper is therefore not just an exam — it is the ultimate biochemistry foundation for CSIR-NET, GATE Biotech, DBT-JRF, ICMR, JKSSB Lecturer, and placements in Biocon, Dr. Reddy’s, Serum Institute, and all life-science research labs. Practising it repeatedly turns a fresher into a confident biochemist from day one. (332 words)
