Cluster University Jammu 1st Semester Sanskrit Basic Elements of Jyotisha Previous Year Question Paper

The Previous Year Question Paper of "Basic Elements of Jyotisha" in the 1st semester Sanskrit programme at Cluster University Jammu is the most mystical, calculation-intensive and career-shaping paper that every Vedic studies student solves 20–30 times. This 3-hour, 70-mark paper (plus 30 marks internal/practical) is 50% theory + 30% numerical + 20% chart interpretation. Section A contains 10 compulsory short questions on Jyotisha as Vedanga, Panchanga components (tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, var), rashis (12 zodiac signs), grahas (9 planets), bhavas (12 houses), nakshatras (27), and basic lagna calculation. Section B tests short calculations on tithi duration, nakshatra pada, rising time of rashis, and planetary transits. Section C carries three long questions — one compulsory 20-mark on "Panchanga construction for a given date with explanation", one on "Graha characteristics & their effects in houses" (15 marks), and one on "Basic horoscope (kundali) interpretation for career/health" (15 marks). Every year at least one Panchanga calculation and one graha-bhava relationship is directly repeated. Students who solve the last 10 years’ papers and practise daily 50 ephemeris calculations score 95–100 easily. Toppers maintain a personal "100 Panchanga Examples + Graha Table + Jyotisha Sutra Diary". This question paper is therefore not just an exam — it is the ultimate foundation for JKPSC Sanskrit Lecturer, Jyotishi certification, Vastu consultant, Vedic astrology courses, and placements in cultural/religious organisations. Practising it repeatedly turns a beginner into a confident Jyotishi from day one. (332 words)
