Cluster University Jammu 1st Semester Music Stage Performance and Viva-Voce Previous Year Question Paper
The Previous Year Question Paper of “Stage Performance and Viva-Voce” in 1st semester BA Music (Vocal/Instrumental/Tabla) at Cluster University Jammu is the most exciting, fully performance-based and career-deciding paper that every music student practises 40–50 times on stage. This is a 100-mark (70 Stage Performance + 30 Viva-Voce) practical examination conducted in front of external & internal examiners. Students have to present a 25–30 minute live performance containing one Vilambit Khayal / Masitkhani Gat in any prescribed raga (Yaman, Bhupali, Alhaiya Bilawal, Kafi, Bhimpalasi) in Teental, one Drut Khayal / Razakhani Gat in the same or different raga, one light composition (Bhajan, Taraana, Dadra, Thumri or Folk of J&K), and basic taal demonstration (Teental, Dadra, Keherwa with Dugun & Chaugun). Viva-voce covers raga lakshan, notation reading, identification of ragas from given phrases, taal theka with tali-khali, and gharana gayaki/baaj knowledge. Every year the choice of ragas remains from the same 5–6 prescribed ragas and Teental is compulsory. Students who record their daily riyaz, perform in front of mirror/teachers and revise lakshan-geet of all 5 ragas score 92–100 easily. Toppers maintain a personal “50 Stage Recordings + 100 Viva Questions + Riyaz Video Diary”. This paper is therefore not just an exam — it is the direct entry ticket to All India Radio Grade Artist audition, Doordarshan empanelment, JKPSC Music Lecturer, JKSSB Music Teacher, stage concerts, reality shows (Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa), and becoming a confident performing artist from the very first semester.
