“Reading and Writing Persian” (Course Code usually PER-101C or Minor/SEC-101) is a 4-credit Skill Enhancement/Minor Course under NEP-2020 at Cluster University Jammu, aimed at building strong foundational literacy in Persian script and basic communication. Unit-wise Syllabus & Marks Distribution: Unit I: Persian Alphabet & Orthography (15 marks) → Complete Persian alphabet (28 Arabic + 4 Persian letters: پ چ ژ گ); joint & separate forms; harakāt (zabar, zer, pesh); tanween, tashdeed, hamza rules; correct pronunciation and common mistakes. Unit II: Basic Reading Skills (18 marks) → Reading simple words, sentences, and short paragraphs; common greetings and expressions (سلام علیکم، خوش آمدید، تشکر، خداحافظ); numbers 1–100; days of week, months, seasons; family members and daily routine vocabulary. Unit III: Writing & Transcription (20 marks) → Joining letters correctly; writing from dictation; transcription (Persian → Roman & Roman → Persian); filling blanks; rearranging jumbled words into sentences; writing guided paragraphs (5–8 lines) on given topics.
